¿Sabías Que...?
Did You Know?

tortilla

Tortillas are more popular today in the U.S. than all other ethnic breads, such as bagels, English muffins and pita bread.

Tortillas have found their place in the American mainstream diet, where they now serve as substitutes for traditional breads in such popular fare as hot dogs, lasagna, pitas, sandwiches and pizza.

Our Favorite Things...
 Huarache
Huarache
(wah-rah-che)

A huarache is a popular Mexican dish consisting of an oblong, fried masa (dough) base, with a variety of toppings.

The name "huarache" is derived from the shape of the masa, similar to the popular sandals of the same name.

The masa is fried and then filled with refried black beans and layered with a variety of toppings. Popular toppings include steak, pastor, nopales and chicken. It is then topped with a massive slab of lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, and drizzled with crema (sour cream).

"Huaraches have been one of my favorite foods since I was a little girl. No matter how full I was, I always found room for a great huarache!
